I would like to clarify my ACC Commissioner post
After reading the responses I want to clarify my position. Football is driving the boat with the Alliance. A big part of this is about improving scheduling to support negotiations for better TV contracts. It is also about keeping the CFB playoff "in check", which I read as "balanced" and "in line with the academic mission of the schools".
Since ND is not a member of the ACC in football, and has a different agenda regarding the playoff, they should not receive any consideration from the ACC vis-a-vis the Alliance. I am not trying to get rid of ND. We have them for at least the next 15 yrs. They serve a useful function and will continue to do so. My feelings are also not hurt. This is business.
What I am saying is that I believe that the ACC made a mistake by, in my opinion, giving ND way too much clout in the ACC with the hope of something to come. In the past, if VT or ND were talking, who do you think the commissioner listened to?
As the commissioner I am going to do what is best for my full members. The special attention ND has received is over. ND is going to benefit from all of this, by default, but it won't be because I did any favors for ND.
